CTIA (Cellar Telecommunication and Internet Associations) was established as a measurement method for mobile phones as a standard for evaluating RF performance. CTIA recommends IEEE standard SAM phantom as a head phantom for evaluating the effects for the human body. PH-SAMHEAD conforms to the shape of IEEE standard SAM phantom, and is designed so that the positioning of mobile phones can be easily reproduced.

The solid phantom PH-SAMHEAD is different from the liquid phantoms that uses dielectrics inside. The dielectric constant of the surface that has a large influence on antenna pattern measurement is controlled, so it is possible to test on the close to real environment.

The solid phantom PH-SAMHEAD has a small specific gravity of approximately 0.75 (approximately 4.5kg) * 1 and is easy to handle during moving and setting.
